Important Kenwood CAT Interface Information

In order to operate CAT, many Kenwoods require optional extras. This interface needs exactly the same optional extras that the original Kenwood IF232 would need.
Many Kenwood models will have them already fitted. If your unsure whether your radio has the optional extras already fitted then you should contact your radio supplier. We cannot supply these optional extras but in most cases they can be obtained locally.

The KENWOOD R-5000 and the TS-440 both require the two computer ICs that make up what is called the IC-10 chip set.
The TS50, TS60, TS690, TS790 TS850 and TS960 require the IF10-D.
It seems that the vast majority of TS450s and TS850s have these prefitted.
The TS140 and TS680 require the IF-10C.
The TS711/811 require the IF-10A.
The IC-10 chip set consists of;-
IC 54, a uPD-8251-AC Serial Communications Interface. Commonly called an 8251A
IC 55, a TC-4040-BP 12 Stage CMOS Divider. Commonly called a 4040
In the UK, Both the above are easy to source and are cheap ! (Under £5 for the pair).
